🌟 Iowa Was Once #1 in Education
For decades until recently, Iowa’s public schools were the envy of the nation. We had the highest literacy rates, top ACT scores, and one of the best teacher preparation systems in the country. Small class sizes, community investment, and a commitment to universal access helped Iowa set the standard.
Action Plan:
Fully fund public schools by raising the State Supplemental Aid (SSA) rate to match inflation.
Repeal school vouchers/ESA program to stop the diversion of public money into private hands.
Support teacher pay, fair treatment, and retention, especially in rural and high-need schools.
Protect intellectual freedom in schools and libraries—stop the micromanagement by politicians.
Support early childhood education with universal pre-K access.
